Good Moments of Brad Keselowski in 2014

The driver that is the easiest to dislike did have times last year of maturity and greatness on and off the track. His aggressive driving and post-race incidents weren’t the only memorable events in 2014. While half the NASCAR community wanted to see him taken out, here are some good moments of 2014 from Brad Keselowski.

"“I’m a man like anyone else who does things ain’t always that proud of, I’m not real proud of last week, but I’m real proud of today”"

After a week that saw Keselowski rampaging the field during an after race caution in Charlotte, Keselowski made it to victory lane at Talladega with an apology statement while being interviewed for the win.

"“The right way wasn’t probably last week, after a lot of adversity that makes this week a little more special, it’s been a long couple weeks and to win and make it to the next round…. I know there’s probably some people out there not happy I won, I can understand that, I’m a man like anyone else who does things ain’t always that proud of, I’m not real proud of last week, but I’m real proud of today.”"

Nobody wanted to see him in victory lane, but after hearing this statement, it made it a little easier to forget the events of the prior week.

On a personal level for Keselowski, winning his first Camping World Truck Series race was a great moment for him in 2014. Having his Dad compete and fully fund a truck for a number of years and the success Brad has had in the other tiers without a truck win, this was a nice event to see happen for his family and him with all their involvement in the Truck Series.

One of the most interesting moments for Keselowski came following the days after the Texas brawl. Once the dust settled, Keselowski posted a quote on Twitter by Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna,

"“We are competing to win and if you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver.” — Ayrton Senna"

Maybe he was affirming justification or crediting inspiration, but quoting racing legends is always a good thing and a good moment during a hard time for Keselowski.

On a lighter moment, Keselowski cutting his hand in victory lane opening a champagne bottle at Kentucky may have not been a good one for him, but was a fun moment for the fans to witness. The champagne flying everywhere could not have felt good for that cut and it is safe to say aluminium tall-boys only in victory lane for Keselowski.

The most memorable moments in 2014 for Keselowski will be his on-track performance. With his 6 wins and ceaseless determination throughout the year, those moments cannot go without mention. A testament to his persistence, the blue deuce seemed to always have some kind of trouble during a race, only to find him back up front in the mix a short time later. Another on-track aspect was his teamwork with Joey Logano. There was a spell when the two Penske drivers were just racing each other for wins and Keselowski always raced his teammate respectfully.
