No. 5 – Trevor Bayne To Roush Fenway Racing

The move of Trevor Bayne to Roush Fenway Racing marked the end of Carl Edwards being with the team. Bayne comes from driving the No. 21 machine with the Wood Brothers where he has one win under his belt, that being the Daytona 500.

Bayne to RFR is a terrific move for the driver more so than it is the team. Bayne never ran a full season with the Wood Brothers since they do not run a full schedule in NASCAR currently. As a result it will be interesting to see what Bayne can do over the course of a full year. Bayne has some experience under his belt and a full-time ride is a great opportunity for him to make some noise in 2015.

Bayne also has the opportunity to become the face of RFR. With teammates Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Greg Biffle there currently isn’t a go-to driver at RFR. Biffle will obviously assume that role at the start of the season given his seniority and veteran presence. However, Biffle himself is coming off of a sub-par 2014 and has a lot that he needs to prove in 2015.

If Bayne can get off to a fast start with RFR he has a chance to become the focal point of that team this season.
