The Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway – Goal: No explanation needed
Checkers or wreckers. The trophy or the steering wheel. It’s that simple.
The 2014 season finale proved that no matter which four drivers advance to Miami with championship hopes still alive, those drivers will only deliver never before seen intensity. At one point last November, all contenders were running 1st-4th! I fail to see how any less excitement could unfold this year.
If Gordon advances to the final four, I cannot begin to imagine the media scrutiny that will converge upon him, his team, his family and our sport. Win or not, an era that has been here since many fans began following the sport will end. Time passes. Things change. However I can think of no better ambassador for our sport at that time. Gordon fans and non-fans alike will place the sport above all else that day – as it should be.
OK, put on your crew chief hats, everyone! How would you map out and strategize a fifth championship for Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet? Discuss below!
