The Dale Earnhardt Jr we saw during the first part of 2014 was the best seen in a long time. He had three top-two results in as many races at the beginning of the season with the third coming at Las Vegas where he was leading at the white flag battling for the win with Brad Keselowski. He had a car capable of winning for sure but the entire team was worried he might not make it to the end on gasoline. He indeed ran out of fuel on the backstretch and left Keselowski in a comfortable position to take the glory of the win, leaving JrNation bummed for the defeat.
