Bad Week: Ryan Newman

When NASCAR drops the hammer on a team the way that they did with Ryan Newman and the No. 31 team there are only two things that make it better; having you appeal heard (and hopefully winning that appeal) and returning to racing. Unfortunately neither of those happened for Newman this past week.

RCR did indeed file an appeal of the penalties that NASCAR levied against them however there has yet to be a timetable announced for that appeal to be heard. Then of course with the off-week Newman obviously wasn’t able to put the noise behind him and race this past weekend since there wasn’t a race. For the sake of Newman and his fans one has to hope that this won’t be a distraction this week in Texas. If the penalties are upheld Newman and the No. 31 team have a huge hole to dig themselves out of. The one saving grace is how awesome of a start they got their season off too.

The other hope has to be that if there is any doubt they actually did this act that NASCAR will repeal their punishment.
