Things Have Gotten Worse For Roush Fenway Racing

Things weren’t great for Roush Fenway Racing in 2014 but they weren’t horrible either.

RFR won two races in 2014 (both with Carl Edwards) and they sent two of their three drivers to the chase (Edwards and Greg Biffle). In the chase Edwards surprised some folks with how competitive he was. Entering the chase there was a curiosity about whether Edwards team would be invested seeing as how he was on his way out the door. Edwards not only kept his team together but they made a nice run in the chase before he eventually departed for JGR at the end of the season.

Biffle on the other hand did not do well in the chase. Biffle at times had cars over the final 10 races that were barely competitive much less capable of winning a race and allowing him to contend for a title.

In 2015 things have not gotten any better. After nine races all three RFR drivers (Biffle, Trevor Bayne and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) find themselves outside of the top-20 in the point standings. In 27 finishes in 2015 the three of them have combined to being him only two finishes inside of the top-10. In comparison, Danica Patrick has two top-10 finishes in her last four starts. Finishes haven’t been the only issue as RFR isn’t qualifying well either. In nine races all three drivers have only gotten out of the first round of qualifying once as compared to all three of them failing to make it past the first round on multiple occasions.

2015 is shaping up to be a long and tiring road for those over at RFR.
