No. 15 seed – Paul Menard
Why He Can
Menard will be looking to use a formula in the 2015 Chase that one of his teammates also perfected just one season ago. In 2014 Ryan Newman almost top-15’ed himself to a NASCAR title, in 2015 Menard will look to seal the deal. Through 26 races this season Menard has 18 top-18 finishes. Constantly finishing in or around the top-15 is something that could be beneficial for Menard during the Chase in his attempt to win a championship.
Why He Can’t
It should be noted that despite Newman’s success in 2014, he did not win a title. It should also be noted that NASCAR has never had a winless champion. If I had to put my money where my mouth is I would rest it on Menard not winning this season. If Menard doesn’t win he is not going to win a title and I will be one of many to tell you that he isn’t going to win.
