Justin Alexander – Crew Chief for Paul Menard at Richard Childress Racing

Justin Alexander received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University in 2003. He began his racing career as a shock specialist at Hendrick Motorsports (HMS) in December of that same year. After one year in that role, he was promoted to the lead race engineer for Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 team, a job that he held for the 2005 campaign. For the next three seasons, his duties at HMS were that of a R&D chassis engineer for the No. 24 and No. 48 teams. He then assumed the lead race engineer position for Jeff Gordon and the No. 24 team in 2009 and 2010.

Justin briefly left NASCAR to become co-founder of Senkd, an event-management company, before returning to racing with Richard Childress Racing as the lead race engineer for the No. 27 Chevrolet of Paul Menard for the 2014 Sprint Cup season. For 2015, he was promoted to crew chief, and brings the team into the Chase for his (and driver Paul Menard’s) first run at a championship.

Alexander and the No. 27 team earned their 2015 Chase berth by being the final driver invited in on points among the non-winners during the first 26 races of the season.
