NASCAR: Five Drivers Who Need To Close The Season Strong
USA Today Sports
Tony Stewart
Stewart and the No. 14 team have shown signs of life over the past few weeks and that needs to continue over the last 10 races of the season.
While the results are not exactly where Stewart wants them to be, the team has been qualifying well and showing decent speed throughout the weekend. Stewart has now missed the Chase three years in a row and he needs to get back there in 2016. There isn’t an easy fix for this team (although ditching Chad Johnston would be a start) but continuing to grow off of what they have is a start.
The challenge for them for the remainder of the season is going to be taking the speed from Friday and Saturday and making sure it’s still there on Sunday. Too many times in the last two months Stewart has looked fast in practice and qualifying to only look flat in the race. If Stewart and company can close the gap in this department they could have a nice run to close out 2015 before heading into 2016.
