Gordon’s Hendrick Motorsports team and teammates are helpful.

Though they have had a down year in 2015, Hendrick Motorsports is still the best team in NASCAR…for now. They are being followed closely by Joe Gibbs Racing but Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon create a great winning atmosphere anytime they are on the track together.

Things almost went really bad for the team in Dover. Jimmie Johnson was ultimately eliminated from the Chase and Dale Earnhardt Jr., because of a late pass, snuck in on the final laps. That could end up benefitting Gordon. He is now the highest Hendrick Motorsports driver in the Chase standings and will be working with confidence.

He will also have Jimmie Johnson, who won’t be in the running for a championship, on the track meaning he could get a little help. We saw this in Dover when Jamie McMurray needed to pass Dale Earnhardt Jr. in order to make it to the next round. Though he obviously didn’t make it, his teammate, Kyle Larson, did a good job holding off Earnhardt Jr. for a while, since he was a few positions ahead, which allowed McMurray to get re-start ahead of Jr. at one point.

These situations don’t occur often in NASCAR but it is always nice to have teammates, whether they are in the Chase or not, that have the ability to run in the top 10 because that could end up being helpful late in the race. Also, Gordon has plenty of structure and support at Hendrick Motorosports that all have the same dream as he does. He won’t have any issues finding help to make it to the end.
