1. Xfinity Teams That Start A Cup Driver Are Ineligible For Car Owner’s Points.

This is the easiest change NASCAR could make that would be a huge step in helping Xfinity Series teams. Until the past 10 years or so, nobody knew or cared about the owner’s championship in any of NASCAR’s top three series. It wasn’t until Cup owners started fielding teams for their drivers in the then Busch Series that media and fans became aware of the separate championship.

Just a few years ago, NASCAR forced drivers to choose which of the three divisions where they would earn points toward the driver’s championship yet they failed to enforce a rule for car owners in any of the series. This was a huge mistake because it did nothing to prevent Cup drivers from continuing to race in other series.

Enacting this rule would all but certainly either force Cup owners to invest in younger talent in their Xfinity Series rides or prevent them from running the entire season. It would also allow full-time Xfinity Series car owners the opportunity to make more money at season’s end and reinvest in their teams for the future.
