One of the things that made the Xfinity Series so great in the 90s’ is that they raced weekly on local tracks instead of the big-budget draws we have today. Sure, to survive and thrive the division made the necessary changes to the schedule, but now the product is nothing more than a Cup feeder division.
It’s doubtful that with the inception of the division that there was intent to just make the Xfinity Series a feeder series. From the start, the division needed to have it’s own identity in order to thrive, and racing at places like Pikes Peak and South Boston (above) only added to what made the division such a blast to watch.
