As Feared, The Bad Pit Stops Happened

While Gordon not getting back to the lead was frustrating, him running in the top-three was reassuring. That all ended when he struggled on consecutive pit stops and that pushed him outside of the top-10.

For Gordon fans, 2015 has been a season where everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop. After the first 20 or so races everyone maintained belief that he could win a title but at the same time everyone began to prepare themselves for what seemed more likely, him not winning a title. That same feeling has now come to him being towards the front in races.

While Gordon fans cheer him on when he is running well, they are left wondering at the same time what is going to go wrong this week. In Martinsville the answered appeared to be pit stops. Although Gordon slowly battled back the race seemed to be lost as Harvick, Keselowski, Logano and Kenseth appeared to be shaping up as the class of the field.

Gordon Emotion Meter: Compromising – It’s most likely around this point that you began to tell yourself that a good finish in Martinsville is the most important thing. If Gordon can run top-five it will set him up for the next two weeks. Sure, you wanted a win but consistency is important and any good finish will work.
