The field didn’t pit, Gordon got off to a clean restart and the next several moments are something that Gordon fans will hold with them for a long time.

Gordon taking the white flag was a moment where I can say with certainty that if millions of Jeff Gordon fans weren’t already standing, they were then. Gordon taking the checkered flag is a moment where I can say with certainty that millions of Gordon fans had tears in their eyes. Those tears might not have been flowing but they were there.

Now, those tears might have started flowing when you stayed glued to the TV to watch the post-race celebration. Seeing Gordon jump out of the car to celebrate in front of the fans was amazing. Seeing Gordon jump into the arms of his crew as though he just won a championship was one of the most touching moments in recent NASCAR history.

I find it hard to believe that any Gordon fan had a dry eye as all of this was going down.
