Jeff Gordon Will Not Go Back-To-Back

Jeff Gordon could very well win again in 2015 but it will not happen this weekend in Texas.

Gordon has won at Texas before but that only happened once and it doesn’t change the fact that Texas is one of the worst tracks in the series for him. In 29 starts in Texas, Gordon has an average finishing position of 17.3 which is the second-worst of all of the tracks in the series (17.7 at Watkins Glen is the worst). The good news for Gordon Nation is that it doesn’t matter what happens this weekend or next for that matter. Obviously Gordon wants to run well but a poor finish won’t hurt the big picture.

Coming off of the high of last weekend I don’t foresee Gordon running poorly. I think a top-15 effort is about what we will see out of Gordon on Sunday, maybe a top-10 if things fall his way. Also, look for Gordon to roll the dice late if the situation sets itself up, gambling for a win could be something the No. 24 team will do with nothing to lose.
