Kenseth/Logano Feud Develops – Comes to a head at Martinsville
Having already been eliminated from Chase contention after the conclusion of the Contender Round due to a poor finish at Kansas by, as some say, the hand of Joey Logano and a 26th-place finish at Talladega, Matt Kenseth vowed revenge.
For two weeks, he called his shot. He then put his money (or car) where his mouth was and pile-drove Logano into the Turn 1 wall late in the race at Martinsville when Joey was leading and Matt was nine laps down due to damage from earlier contact with, ironically, Logano’s teammate Brad Keselowski.
Matt lined him up, got him in his sights and took the shot. “Done it deliberate,” as Robert Duvall’s character Harry Hogge said in the movie “Days Of Thunder.” NASCAR brass didn’t take too kindly to Matt’s actions as we all know, and suspended Kenseth for the next two races at Texas and Phoenix. Matt’s suspension was upheld on appeal.
