Honorable Mention: Las Vegas (2007)

Sometimes the worst wrecks in NASCAR are the ones that no one thought could happen. That was definitely the case at Las Vegas in 2007, where Gordon tried to move to the bottom of the track to avoid a spinning Matt Kenseth, but ended up ramming head first into an inside barrier of the track. Even worse is the fact that the place that Gordon hit was said to have no SAFER barrier to help protect Gordon from the impact of the wreck.

Sure, Gordon was able to walk away from the car virtually unharmed, but the wreckage of the car definitely left many to wonder how he was able to walk away from such a brutal accident.
