No. 5: 1997 Bud At The Glen at Watkins Glen

Significance: First of NASCAR-leading nine (9) road course wins

Because Jeff is NASCAR’s all-time winningest road-course driver, his first of 9 road course wins has to make our list. At one point, he won six consecutive road course races. Because stock cars are heavy and not very easy to drive on flat, winding courses, it is believed that Gordon’s superb car-control skills learned and mastered during his career’s early days on dirt are what has made him the accomplished road racer that he is.

Jeff started the race 11th, and held off Geoff Bodine, Rusty Wallace and Robby Gordon for the win.
