Grand Theft Auto

Have you ever woken up one day, gotten dressed, snagged your tickets to the day’s race and just decided, why don’t I just steal the pace car today?

One guy did during a race at Talladega Superspeedway in 1986 and to this day, it remains one of the weirdest moments in all of NASCAR history. In fact, The only thing that even comes close to this bizarre incident was when Juan Pablo Montoya accidentally crashed into a jet dyer during the 2012 Daytona 500.

As for the fan that stole the pace car, he was able to go on a brief joyride around the 2.5 mile superspeedway before finally being halted by a huge barricade of safety officials and was eventually carried away by police. While the incident didn’t impact the outcome of the day’s race at all, it was a huge safety risk for bystanders, local police officers and track safety officials.
