NASCAR: Which Tracks Will Be SAFER In 2016?
By Mike Hutton
Kansas
Changes Made: No new SAFER barriers have been installed, but the pit wall was extended at the entrances to safety cutouts in Turns 2 and 3. Two sand barrels at the leading edge of the pit exit and a tire pack at pit entrance were conspicuous in 2015.
Comment: This track is going the wrong way. Adding walls but not adding SAFER barriers?
Irresponsible.
The track PR staff will boast that 1.28 miles of the 1.50 miles of exterior wall are protected, making it the longest length of any track on the circuit which uses the SAFER barrier. Simply not true.
