Changes made: 200,000 square feet of additional asphalt added to the insides of Turns 1 and 2. Added 4100 feet of SAFER barrier on the inside of all four turns, with an additional 4000 feet planned before February of ’16.

Comment:Bravo!  Track President Joie Chitwood took accountability for not having the wall that Kyle Busch hit protected in the first place and put himself in the spotlight just hours afterwards to assume responsibility for fixing it. He certainly has.

The completion of the “Daytona Rising” project along with these safety improvements make Daytona a strong candidate for claiming the title of the world’s most première racing facility.
