Changes Made: An additional 1560 feet of SAFER barriers were added in early 2015 to the emergency vehicle entrance point on the back straightaway and to driver’s left between Turns 3 and 4. The track has over 9000 feet of total barriers. For 2016, the track has replaced every inch of catch fencing around the 2.5 mile facility.

Comment:  The Indianapolis Motor Speedway first helped develop the SAFER barrier and has always been among the leading facilities for any type of safety improvements. The narrow width (50 feet) of the front and back straightaways make SAFER barrier use there unfeasible.
