Changes Made: The entire inside wall of the backstretch and the interior walls at the entry and exit of pit road were upgraded in 2015 by adding 2866 feet of SAFER barriers. Along with the inside walls, SAFER barriers are being added to three exterior sections on the frontstretch, directly across from the entry and exit of the pits, at the start-finish line. Another 2,103 feet of safety barrier will be installed before NASCAR returns next April, and every wall will be protected following a third phase after that.

Comment: Track President and promoter Eddie Gossage always knows how to grab a headline, and he did so as well here by taking his facility’s shortcomings seriously enough to lay out a clear vision to address them.
