Number 2: Texas Motor Speedway, April 2000

Significance: First Sprint-Cup series win, one of only two that his father was able to witness

A driver’s first Sprint Cup series win is always a monumental event, and Dale’s was no different – winning the DirecTV 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 2, 2000. Dale started 4th and led a race-high 106 laps.

Unfortunately, unknown to anyone at the time, this win would be one of only two that his late-father was able to witness. The elation of winning your first race is awesome.  Being able to celebrate it with your dad is even better.  Both of the Earnhardt’s were the race’s top two finishing Chevrolet’s. With the win, the duo became one of only five father-son families where each has won a NASCAR race.
