No. 9  – Austin Dillon

Driving the legendary #3 car Dillon needs to improve his average finishes in 2016 if he wants to be a Chase contender.

The 2015 season was a large decline for the Richard Childress Racing driver’s sophomore year. In his rookie season Dillon had an average start of 19.9 with an average finish of 17.5 with 25 top 20 finishes, compared to his sophomore season in which his average start improved (17.0) but his average finish declined (21.0) with 21 top 20’s. With Slugger Labbe returning to the box for another season, Dillon will come into his own during an impressive 3rd season. RCR has slowly been rebounding in their program and it is showing on track with Ryan Newman but the three DNFs that Dillon had in 2015 and some of his poor finishes throughout the season played a big role in his season. Dillon has the talent seeing as he rose through the NASCAR ranks rather quickly and with a large amount of success, the current belief is that his talent will finally show up in his Sprint Cup career now that the sophomore slump is over hopefully we’ll see Dillon in victory lane and in the Chase.
