Only Three JGR Drivers Make The Chase

In 2015 Joe Gibbs racing was the class of the NASCAR field.

Kyle Busch won five races (after missing 11) and the Sprint Cup Series title. Matt Kenseth won five times himself while Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards each had a pair of wins. In 2015 all four JGR drivers went to the Chase and all four of them ran pretty well.

In 2016, that will not happen again as Denny Hamlin will be the one JGR driver missing the Chase.

2016 will be a tough season for Hamlin. The new crew chief on the No. 11 team coupled with his recovery from ACL surgery will result in a season of disappointment. Hamlin and the No. 11 team might come on strong towards the end of the season and win some races but it will be too little too late as far as making the Chase is concerned.
