Martin Truex Jr. Will Struggle

2015 was an amazing year for Martin Truex Jr. and the No. 78 team.

Through the first 15 races of the season, Truex finished worse than 10th only once including a win at Pocono. Following that stretch he did slow down a bit but he picked it back up during the Chase. In the Chase Truex Jr. never ran worse than 15th.

Despite the success in 2015, Truex Jr. will take a step back in 2016. The manufacturer switch combined with the success from 2015 is going to put a lot of pressure on Truex Jr. and his team. I don’t think he will get off to the hot start that he did last season and that will only add to the stress. I won’t go as far as saying that he is going to miss the Chase but I don’t think he wins a race in 2016.

If Truex Jr. does make the Chase, he will exit before the Round of 12.
