NASCAR: The 2016 Big Prediction Page
How Will NASCAR’s Ratings In 2016 Compare To 2014?
- Christopher Olmstead – NASCAR’s ratings were up and down in 2015 as compared to 2014 and a lot of that had to do with the races being shown on the sister networks. I think we will see much of the same in 2016, some numbers will be up but overall I think they will be about the same across the board.
- Jason Higgins – I expect the FOX races to be about the same and the NBC races to go up slightly. And the new XFINITY and Truck Chases will have no impact on those series’ ratings.
- Joseph Shelton – Don’t expect much of a difference between 2016 and 2014 regarding ratings. Not enough time has transpired to move to ratings one way or another. Sure, there was Kyle Busch’s run for the championship and the epic battle between Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth, but the buck stops there.
- Mike Hutton – Overall, I’ll say ratings will be higher, but only by a very small amount. Moving the first Richmond race to the daytime and moving the Coke Zero 400 off of Sunday night will help in this regard. Also, in year 2 of the current TV partners, folks will have an increased familiarity with where to find broadcasts.
- Cole Mentzel – NASCAR’s ratings in 2016 are going to be down. There were a lot of upset fans last season with the way the Chase turned out and with the amount of races on NBCSN, a channel that some people do not get. Also, with all the new rules changes, many fans simply won’t have the drive to watch the races unless there isn’t anything else on.
- Martin Feigen – Using 2014 as a model, flat to lower
Next: Tony Stewart?
