NASCAR: Jeff Burton’s Five Most Significant Wins
By Mike Hutton
Number 4: Loudon – July 13, 1997 – Jiffy Lube 300
Significance: First of four wins at Loudon, First win for sponsor Exide Batteries
Commentary: This was Burton’s first of four wins at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, one of his favorite and statistically most successful tracks. It was also the first time he won for sponsor Exide batteries. The race was conducted almost entirely under the green flag, as there were only two caution periods for 10 laps. Following Burton across the finish line in the top five were Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Rusty Wallace, Steve Grissom and Mark Martin. Grissom would match his career-high 4th-place finish again later in the season in the second Loudon race.
