NASCAR: Jeff Burton’s Five Most Significant Wins
By Mike Hutton
Number 2: Dover – September 24, 2006 – Dover 400
Significance: Broke 176-race losing streak, First win since moving to RCR
Commentary: This was Burton’s first win since leaving Roush Racing and signing with Richard Childress Racing. More importantly, it broke an almost 5-year winless streak for Burton. What earned Jeff even more respect was the aggressive, yet clean manner in which he raced Matt Kenseth in the race’s late stages. Kenseth would ultimately run out of fuel, but many felt as though Burton did not inherit the win and in fact earned it by racing cleanly.
