Even with setbacks, Vickers can provide NASCAR with a great story.

Everyone loves a comeback story. That’s exactly what Vickers is on a mission to do. With all of his health complications, he has only raced one full season since 2012. Besides that, he has raced in only 27 Cup Series races.

Recently, NASCAR has had many great comeback stories. Whether it was Kurt Busch overcoming legal issues to run a great season in 2015, Kyle Busch winning the championship in 2015 after breaking his leg and missing 11 races or Martin Truex Jr. beating the odds by winning a race and making it to Homestead, there has been an abundance of great stories to follow.

There wouldn’t be many that could live up to Vickers successfully filling in for Stewart and going on to find a new ride in 2016. Beating health issues are incredible as it is, but something like blood clots is a whole different story.

Though he may have a lot of question marks by his name right now, Brian Vickers is a great choice for Stewart-Haas Racing and he will have plenty of storylines to create prior to his Daytona 500 start in the No. 14 car.
