NASCAR: Tony Stewart’s Five Most Significant Wins
By Mike Hutton
Number 2: Indianapolis – August 7, 2005 – Allstate 400 At The Brickyard
Significance: First Brickyard Win, Battle With Kahne
Commentary: Let me tell you this from personal experience: When you’re a young man growing up in Central Indiana, your whole life revolves around one of two things — an Indiana University basketball scholarship or a race victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There is simply nothing else in the world that matters. Follow the north star when in Indiana and you will end up at either 16th & Georgetown on the west side of Indianapolis or the birthplace of Bobby Knight. One or the other – those are your only choices. When you can enjoy one of these treasures, and beat one of your best friends (Kasey Kahne) in doing so, all is right with the world. Stewart experienced this for the second time in his career with this victory.
