Real racing, real fast.

Although Atlanta Motor Speedway boasted some of the fastest speeds on the entire Sprint Cup circuit, it wasn’t until 1988 when NASCAR started mandated restrictor plates at Talladega and Daytona that Atlanta Motor Speedway became the fastest track in the entire series.  In fact, this distinction is said to have influenced Atlanta Motor Speedway’s slogan of real racing real fast.

Speaking of fast, Billy Boat holds the record for fastest lap at The 1.5 mile speedway, with a speed of 124.263. The record was set in 1988 during an Indy Car Series event at the speedway.
