Loser: Atlanta Motor Speedway Grandstands

NASCAR has had recent issues filling their seats. Whether it has to do with new rule changes or general uninterest in the sport, there just hasn’t seemed to be as many fans taking in races in person as there has been in the past.

That was the case again on Sunday as the attendance at Atlanta looked rather small.

Of course popular tracks like Daytona, Talladega and Charlotte are going to attract massive crowds and you would think that would be the case for a track with as much history as Atlanta but it simply wasn’t. Fans missed an opportunity for perfect weather as the temperature hung around in the 60’s all day and no clouds showed up.

In past seasons, NASCAR had attendance issues at other tracks like Michigan International Speedway, Richmond International Raceway and Auto Club Speedway. With issues already arising for the second race of the season, NASCAR is going to have to push to make sure empty grandstands don’t become more of a trend this season.
