2. 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400: Battle at the Coliseum

Ricky Craven versus Kurt Busch This finish may have gone down as the closest in the history of NASCAR, but that’s only part of the reason why it is on this list.  In fact, the margin of victory itself seems like an afterthought when you compare it to the three laps of intense racing action that fans were treated to that afternoon at Darlington Raceway.

The frenzy started with three laps to go as Ricky Craven was quickly catching up to the race leader, Kurt Busch. Craven then got a run on Busch the very next lap and tried to pass the former Sprint Cup champion on the inside groove of the track. Unfortunately for both Craven and Busch, Craven’s car somehow got loose at the bottom of the track and ended causing Kurt Busch’s car to make contact with the wall.

Busch then retaliated by sticking his nose into the bumper of Craven’s car and executing a pretty sweet crossover move to retake the lead from the veteran.  While it looked like the crossover move was enough for Busch to run away with the victory, Craven quickly ran Busch down one more time, rubbed fenders with him all the way to the line and ultimately snatched the victory away.
