1. 1979 Daytona 500: A finish for the ages.

From an intense battle for the lead in the closing laps of the race , to one of the most iconic fights in all of NASCAR history, there is no denying that this race had a little bit of everything to it and that’s why it no doubt deserves the number one spot on this list.

It also started with two laps to go, when Cale Yarbrough tried to make an aggressive move to the inside of race leader, Donnie Allison.  Although the move did put the two driver’s door to door heading into the backstretch, Allison then threw the block on Yarbrough, which sent Yarbrough into the grass and Allison’s car out of control Yarbrough wasn’t happy with the blocked and slammed right back into Allison only seconds later.

Unfortunately for both drivers, the contact between the two ultimately resulted in them both spinning into the wall and losing the lead to eventual race winner, Richard Petty.  With the win now out of reach and a score to settle, both men then exited their cars and proceeded to take part in the most iconic fight in all of NASCAR history.
