Loser: Kyle Larson

After an exciting rookie season and a slight sophomore slump, Kyle Larson entered 2016 with much optimism in the quest for his first Sprint Cup Series win.

However, the year has not been kind to him so far. Since a solid 7th-place finish in the Daytona 500, Larson has had trouble gaining any real momentum. He never got going in Atlanta with a 26th-place finish and his issues there spilled over into this weekend as he was involved in two separate wrecks, one with A.J. Allmendinger and one with Regan Smith. To go along with that, he had a pit road speeding penalty en route to a 34th-place finish.

His fellow Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, Jamie McMurray, hasn’t had much luck either, with no finishes over 17th this season. 1.5-mile tracks have not been kind to Larson so far this season and that was the case again this weekend at Las Vegas.

With Phoenix coming up next weekend, he will look to get back on track at one of NASCAR’s most unique tracks.
