Winner: Flyovers

One of the many things fans enjoy about being at the track for a race is seeing aircraft fly over the track during the national anthem. With some pretty spectacular scenes, NASCAR has made it a recurring event to provide top notch sights.

This weekend the Thunderbirds, a jet demonstration team for the US Air Force, completed yet another stunning flyover. They entertained fans by breaking away right as they hit the center point above the track. Before they executed their maneuvers, they flew in formation with a few pictures capturing the team in front of the mountains that are near the venue.

The Thunderbirds are stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, which is right outside the track.  Pre-race flyovers aren’t the only featured sight either. Another cool thing about the speedway is that throughout the week before the race, many jets can be seen taking off and landing, providing a beautiful scene for anyone watching practice or qualifying.

The whole NASCAR spirit of honoring the military makes scenes like these that much better and this weekend, fans at Las Vegas Motor Speedway got a real treat.
