The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season is off and running, but after one race it already feels like all the action has stopped. The series has nearly three weeks off until the April 2 race at Phoenix International Raceway. And that’s just the first gap in the Verizon IndyCar Series.

In this article, we’re going to pick out five tracks that could conceivably be added to the existing schedule. For the sake of the piece, we’re going to assume that money, dates, sponsorship, and fan interest are non-factors. We’ll assume that all of these tracks are willing to hold an IndyCar Series race. That means a few tracks on this list might surprise you. But, we’re going to include them no matter how ridiculous it may seem.

We’re not talking about the all-time great tracks for Indy car racing. We’re not talking about the tracks of the past that fans are clamoring to see return to the schedule. We’re talking about which tracks make sense to fill the existing gaps in the 2016 schedule. This is not a ranking order, but rather a chronological order based on filling the schedule.
