Contender No. 2: Kyle Busch

Winning the championship last season after breaking his leg before the Daytona 500 created one of the great NASCAR stories for Kyle Busch. However, because of his injury, he didn’t get to race at at Auto Club last year.

The last two races in Fontana have been wins for Busch, as he made it to Victory Lane in both 2013 and 2014. His other win came in 2005, back when he was racing the No. 5 car for Rick Hendrick.

There’s no reason to count Busch out after his incredible 2015 campaign and his continued success this season. In his first four races, he has finished in third-place twice and fourth-place twice, overcoming adversity and pit road issues in a couple of races this season. Even without a win, he is still tied for the points lead.

Busch will be going for three straight wins at the track this weekend. With his history there and his recent hot streak, he will definitely be back in contention come Sunday.
