Loser: A Three-peat

Kyle Busch had finished inside of the top-4 and had led in all of his Cup races this season. Sunday, he was looking to go a little further by winning his third-straight race in Fontana dating back to 2013 (Busch was out with an injury in last year’s race).

The day started off rough for the defending champ as he had to make an unscheduled pit stop early, dropping him to 37th place. Later on he was able to battle back and looked for the lead a few times, managing to stay in the thick of things at the front of the pack.

The race winding down and Busch needed a caution in order to gain on Kevin Harvick. The only problem was that he was the reason for the late yellow flag, as he had suffered from another tire issue.

Busch ended up finishing the race in 25th place and never led. He will look to rebound in a couple of weeks when the series heads to Martinsville.
