Loser: The No. 24 Team

After an incredible win to clinch a spot in the Championship 4 last season, the No. 24 team returned to Martinsville with Chase Elliott behind the wheel instead of Jeff Gordon.

In just his second Cup Series race at Martinsville, Elliott had a rough day, finishing in 20th place. After qualifying well and starting in 10th place, he would begin a free fall and end up running in between 20th and 30th and at least a lap down for the majority of the day. To make things worse, he was hit with a penalty for speeding on pit road.

That wasn’t the end of things for Elliott as he was bumped around quite a bit by the rest of the field. Though he made adjustments and got a little better towards the end of the race, it was a struggle all day for him and the rest of his team.

Elliott will look to rebound next weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, the track that he earned his first Xfinity Series win at.
