Loser: Teamwork

Richard Childress Racing came into Martinsville looking for a good outing from all of their cars. Since the season began, Ryan Newman and Paul Menard had completed some solid outings, but Austin Dillon was the only driver that had really been performing well, as his three top-10’s in the first five races made it look like he had taken a step forward.

Throughout the race, all three drivers ran well, but their willingness to help each other out was not there at one point during the afternoon.

Dillon and Menard exchanged a series of bumps and moves as the two repeatedly put each other in danger. Eventually, Dillon’s crew chief, Richard Labbe, had to calm the third-year driver down as he was getting fairly animated on the radio.

The two managed to avoid wrecking each other and settled things peacefully after the race.

It turned out to be a good day for RCR as Dillon finished 4th, Menard finished 8th and Newman finished 10th, giving everyone on the team a top-10 finish.
