Loser: Kurt Busch’s Chance To Repeat
Last season, in this exact race, Kurt Busch was able to capture his first win of the season as well as a win that clinched his spot in the Chase.
He looked to be on his way to doing that again during the dying moments of Sunday’s race. On Lap 278, Busch was able to pass Brad Keselowski and take the lead. He went on the lead a total of 55 laps, executing on restarts while getting help from his pit crew as they continued to help him win races off of pit road.
However, it fell apart for him on a late restart. Busch, though no new adjustments were made, fell back in the field as his brother, Kyle, took advantage. At one point, he asked just how many JGR cars had passed him due to how fast he dropped. That was the end of Kurt’s chances at a win as he finished the day in 10th place.
This race, just like last week’s at Bristol, provided another great chance for Busch to get an early win. Instead, he will continue to look for his first trip to Victory Lane.
