NASCAR: Winners And Losers From Richmond
By Cole Mentzel
Winner: Restarts
Besides Carl Edwards’ late move for the race, it was restarts that were recognized as the highlight of the events at Richmond.
The race didn’t earn it’s first caution until just before the halfway point, however after that, cautions began to breed cautions. With every restart, we saw some pretty awesome battles. From close calls to shuffling in the front and the back of the field, it was all there.
Perhaps the most amazing part of the restarts came in the form of multiple instances for four-wide racing. A pair of cars would enter a turn and leave with two other guests on the inside or outside. Even Tony Stewart got a taste of four-wide racing in his first race back since last season’s finale at Homestead.
We knew that short track racing was going to provide entertainment, as it always does, but the action we saw on Sunday seemed to be a little bit crazier than everyone expected. Luckily for us, we’ll get to see more four-wide moments next weekend at Talladega.
