Winner: Comebacks

One popular trend at Richmond, just like at Bristol last week, was comebacks. A few key drivers faced adversity early on but were able to finish their days strong.

First was Denny Hamlin, who was hoping to pick up his second win of the season at his home track. However, his plans were impacted when he was hit with an uncontrolled tire penalty on the first caution of the day. He had possible electric issues at one point but was saved by another caution and ended up finishing the day in 6th place.

Joey Logano struggled out of the gate on Sunday. He immediately fell back in the pack and eventually went a lap down. After fighting for the rest of the day, he got back up into the top-10 and earned an eighth-place finish as he had the best finish out of all of the Ford cars.

Martin Truex Jr., a driver that is sure to get a win at some point in the season, suffered from a loose wheel that forced him to make an unscheduled pit stop. He went on to make up some extra ground before finishing in ninth.

Last was Chase Elliott, who started the day in 23rd. It took him a while to get in a rhythm, and he even went down a lap at one point, but Elliott bounced back and worked his way into the top-10 before ultimately finishing 12th.
