  • Top-5’s: 12
  • Top-10’s: 16

Racing at Talladega has been a notable event for the Earnhardt family as Dale Earnhardt’s 10 wins is the most all-time in the Cup Series. The success didn’t stop with him as Dale Earnhardt Jr. has notched six in his career, tied second all-time with Jeff Gordon.

For Earnhardt Jr. the success came early on, as he won five out of seven races at the track from 2001-2004. In the 2002 spring race, he led 133 out of 188 laps in one of the most dominant performances we’ve ever seen at Talladega. Throughout his career, Earnhardt Jr. has led laps in 29 of his 32 starts. He owns an average finish of 14.7 and has the most top-5’s out of any active driver.

One notable thing for Jr., as he heads into the weekend, is that his car nicknamed “Amelia” will be back on the track. This car is the same one that he used in his victories at Talladega and Daytona last season, but also the same one that he wrecked in this year’s Daytona 500.

There’s just no way you can count Jr. out anytime he’s racing at a restrictor plate track. His racing has been trending upwards in the past few weeks as he has managed to overcome setbacks. He also has three second-place finishes so far this season.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is your favorite heading into the weekend.
