Winner: Young Drivers

Talladega always opens the door for just about every driver in the field. Sunday was no different as a few young drivers finished off solid races, some by surprise and others by avoiding the big accidents.

Austin Dillon logged a third-place finish, his best of the season, after an interesting day. He had worked his way to the front of the pack before being collected in a huge wreck. That didn’t stop him as he emerged late and challenged for the win in the final laps.

Chase Elliott had one of the stronger cars throughout the day as he led 27 laps early on. Even though he was trapped at the back of the lines late, he used the last wreck of the race to get back to the front and made a few nifty moves to earn a fifth-place finish, the highest out of all Hendrick cars.

Ryan Blaney captured his third top-10 of the season with a ninth-place finish while Trevor Bayne finished 10th after leading 22 laps.

Landon Cassill had to make a few extra moves on pit road and on the track to lock up 11th place, his best finish since coming in fourth in the 2014 Talladega Chase race.

Finally, Cole Whitt finished in 18th place, which was his best finish of the season and his best overall since the spring race last season at Talladega (13th).
