The Favorite: Joey Logano

Stats at Kansas:

  • Wins: 2
  • Top-5’s: 5
  • Top-10’s: 5
  • Laps Led: 289

It wasn’t easy for Joey Logano during his career with Joe Gibbs Racing. He suffered mightily at Kansas, finishing no higher than 15th in seven races. He eventually made the switch to Team Penske and has been nearly flawless in his six races since.

Though he finished 39th in the spring race of 2013, Logano has followed up with five-straight top-5’s, including two wins (both Chase races) and 289 laps led at the track. A switch flipped for Logano and he has been arguably the most impressive Cup Series driver at Kansas in recent years.

As mentioned earlier, his rivalry with Matt Kenseth seems to have resurfaced after some tension on and off the track last weekend at Talladega. With his late-race spin of Kenseth the last time they visited Kansas, Logano might have more obstacles to overcome instead of just the basics, like restarts and pit road execution.

Logano is still looking for his first win of the season. In the previous three 1.5-mile races of the year (Atlanta, Las Vegas, Texas), he has finished 12th, 2nd and 3rd.

Joey Logano is your favorite heading into Saturday night’s race at Kansas.
