The creators of Forza 6 surprised fans with a NASCAR expansion. So far, it is proving to be great for both fans and the sport itself.

After the release of NASCAR ’15 last year, fans were left wanting a little more. It had served as a slightly updated version of NASCAR ’14, still giving fans the virtual racing that they wanted but not providing enough new content.

As time went along, the game came with an update for users who already had the game. It changed the game to NASCAR ’15 Victory Edition, providing patches and updates, including new paint schemes.

There were rumors for a NASCAR ’16 game at the beginning of the year, but since then, news has died down and only time will tell us if the game will truly hit stores this year.

Despite some disappointment among recent NASCAR games, fans were shocked to learn about Forza 6, the most popular racing game on the market, releasing a NASCAR expansion pack.

With top-notch graphics and some of the best racing mechanics in games, it was certainly exciting to learn that Turn 10 Studios had developed a NASCAR portion of their Xbox One game.

First off, let’s dive in the the pack itself and see what all is included. When you pay $20 to buy the additional content, you get 24 new cars to add to your garage–all cars driven by drivers from Chip Ganassi Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and Team Penske.

Along with that the pack gives you a new track to race at: Homestead-Miami Speedway, host of the final race of the season.

You’ll have few different modes in the game that feature the new NASCAR content:

NASCAR World Tour is basically story mode as you use cars from NASCAR to race against all types of cars, like IndyCar or Formula E models, at tracks all over the world.

In showcases, you have ten different events you can try out, ranging from one-lap showdowns to 300-lap endurance races. In this mode, you are required to use a certain driver’s car to get the job done.

Multiplayer is where it really gets fun. You can race up to 23 other racing fans online at any track in any type of weather. Leagues match you against drivers with similar skills as you attempt to move up the online standings with every race.

Finally, Rivals, a famous mode for Forza, encourages you to get the fastest lap time at a selected track in order to beat out other online players.

In addition to the content above, the game also features a new type of race featuring “Quick Stops.” In this mode, you are required to make a set number of visits to pit road before the race is over.

After purchasing it myself and getting some time to mess around with it, I’d like to share my thoughts.

First of all, if you have Forza 6, I encourage you to buy the expansion. It’s worth every penny. The general look of the cars, plus the feeling of getting to race them at tracks like Indy, Watkins Glen, Sonoma and Daytona is pretty awesome, not to mention the fact that you can take them to other places like Road Atlanta or Nurburgring in Germany.

Another pretty cool aspect of the game is racing in rainy weather. We’re used to watching the on-air analysts or the Air Titan’s during rainy days, but you can actually take NASCAR cars out on the track in the rain, which is something different from a lot of other games.

Racing alongside everyday cars as well as foreign race cars is something special to the typical racing fan who was used to using those cars in separate games. It’s also satisfying to race at places like Circuit of the Americas or Road America, two tracks that many would love to see the Cup Series visit someday.

I believe this game is satisfying for the fans and for NASCAR itself. Fans are always looking for new NASCAR games and they are getting it at the highest level with the people out at Turn 10 getting involved.

NASCAR is expanding it’s reach as well, as players of the game get to learn a little bit more about the sport through the short clips and setups before races along with driver audio from Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson.

All in all, I think Forza 6 nailed it with the expansion pack. Everything about it, from the dynamics of the racing down to the detail put into each and every car, provides gamers with a truly incredible experience.
